Is Velcro Out of Style?

I realize that velcro shoes aren't the most fashionable things but I'm reconsidering the look for sake of convenience.

If you look at the picture, you can see what happened to me today. As I was working at my desk, somehow or another, my shoe string got tied up with the wheel of my chair.

I couldn't really tell how bad it was at first, so I spent a little while trying to figure out the best way to remove the shoe string without making it worse. I finally decided to just jerk it as hard as I could since the shoe string was completely out of sight. Wrong choice! Without thinking about the consequences of pulling a chair with your shoe string securley tied to it, I never expected the chair to come rolling into me with so much force. Eventually I was set free and was able to go eat my lunch.

Does anyone else feel like their office equipment is sometimes out to get you?
